The GSBI Social Entrepreneurship at the Margins (SEM) is 6-month accelerator for migrants and refugees, as well as social enterprises that serve them.

Led by the Miller Center for Social Entrepreneurship at Santa Clara University, the accelerator – titled Social Entrepreneurship at the Margins, – was launched in 2018 and is now building on its success, by launching a new call for applications.
The call is open to for-profit, nonprofit, or hybrid social enterprises that have been in operation for one or more years, and are either led by migrants, refugees, or victims of trafficking, or address their challenges. The program requires entrepreneurs to commit 3-6 hours per week to complete program and work with mentors online.
Miller Center delivers world-class accelerator programs that connect global social enterprise leaders with Silicon Valley business executives to develop more sustainable, scalable market-based solutions to the problems of those living in poverty around the world. The program is set to begin on October 2019, and is based on a validated curriculum that has accelerated over 1,000 social enterprises in the Bay area. Previous cohorts include startups like The Refugee Company, Five One Labs and NeedsList.
